The History that Led to Innovation

After Bruce built and sold Canada’s largest property management company and Brent spent 10 years in auditing and CFO roles as a CPA, the father-son team bought a window and glass shop, which they transitioned into a commercial glazing company that manufactured and installed storefronts, curtain walls, and doors throughout Greater Vancouver.

After seeing limited innovation and the high cost of many industry products, they began developing their own solutions, establishing supply chains, and partnering with manufacturers to bring new products to market. They eventually began selling their products to other glazing contractors and discovered that their passion was innovation and product development. In October 2024, they sold their glazing company to focus on developing innovative products through Visionar Window Systems Inc.

Development of AutoArm Automated Casement Window Hardware

AutoArm is a simple, affordable window automation system that controls window operation through a controller, smart home app or wall switch.  Just as push buttons replaced hand cranks in cars and wall switches replaced pull strings to turn on household lights, our goal is for AutoArm to become the preferred way to operate windows.  Concealed within the frame,  AutoArm opens, closes, and securely locks windows while delivering the convenience of automation.  The international team that helped create it included:

·         Mechanical engineers in Ukraine supporting design of the miniature, high-strength gearbox.

·         Software programmers in California to connect AutoArm to smart-home applications.

·         A Texas-based consulting firm (with British engineers) for product development and logistics.

·         Manufacturing experts in China for high-quality motors, gears, and electronics.

Development of KidGuard WOCD

KidGuard is a new certified window restrictor that keeps young children from falling out of windows.  Although KidGuard may look simple, meeting the ASTM F2090 WOCD requirements while fitting within the narrow channel of a casement window was a significant engineering challenge. Over a two-year period, we repeatedly refined every angle, rivet, and arm to optimize performance.

Our goal was to build a robust window restrictor unobtrusive enough that adults in the home would barely notice it. We introduced KidGuard to the market in June 2026 and have since seen strong interest from window manufacturers.  We are adapting the WOCD mechanism to awning, tilt-and-turn, and custom window profiles.
